Zenith Apartment Building, West Perth
The construction of the 10 level Zenith Apartment Building at 36 Kings Park Road is the culmination of many years of involvement as architects in the multiple housing sector, examples of which can be seen in the western suburbs and on the South Perth peninsular. The project comprises a new 70 unit apartment building with basement that wraps around the existing Federation Queen Anne heritage buildings on the site. The Zenith Apartment Building offers spectacular views south over Kings Park as well as eastern views over the city CBD from the higher levels.
The heritage building, with its separate ballroom, was fully restored as part of this project. Although currently utilised as an office, it is designed to function as a café or restaurant with service access from the rear laneway and ground floor car park. A distinct contrast between old and new is established which highlights the uniqueness of the old buildings and makes them a central feature of the redeveloped site.
